In 2004 I think the lake was as high as it is now, but I think we are going higher than I can ever remember seeing it.
The lake level right now is about 10 1/2 feet low and still rising steadily. It is a welcomed sight to see especially after the levels of the 90’s. I don’t know how many people in south Texas realize what a remarkable lake we have, if you have not been down to Falcon you owe it to yourself and family to make the short trip down to Zapata.
Fishing continues to be good with fish coming from all depths. Early morning shallow bite, with spinner baits and top water baits is good while flipping out a little deeper works best once the early bite has died down.
Although you can still catch fish with a spinner bait all day long if you’ll move out a little deeper.
